The Stones are celebrating their 50th anniversary this year and released new single "Doom and Gloom" on Thursday, their first new song in over six years!
The Rolling stones were an English rock band formed in 1962. The band consisted of instrumentalist Brian Jones, pianist Ian Stewart, vocalist Mick Jagger, and guitarist Keith Richards. They were later joined by bassist Bill Wyman and drummer Charlie Watts. Ian Stewart continued as a road manager and keyboardist after 1963 until death in 1985.
Originally, the band did covers of blues and R&B songs. The album Aftermath released in 1966 consisted mainly of Jaggerís and Richardsí songs. Guitarist Ronnie Wood joined the band in 1975. Although they were originally famous in the United Kingdom/Europe, the Rolling Stones made their appearance in the US during the 1960ís. They have 22 albums released in the UK , 24 in the US , along with 9 concert albums in the US and many compilations. They have to date sold over 200 million albums world wide. In 2005 they released their last album, A Bigger Bang. They were brought into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1989 and were #4 in Rolling Stone magazine in 2004 as part of the 100 Greatest Artists of All Time.
